Chili Ave. 5-7 PM was the call time. 38 Spesh organized this video shoot in one post on Fb and left space for the city to breathe — room for MCs, singers, artists, and Black entrepreneurs to mingle, catch up, and be seen. Free food, drinks, and merch for everybody who pulled up. He gave to those first come first serve. This wasn’t just a shoot. It was nostalgia. It was community. I came out to meet every serious creator in Rochester. No talent going unnoticed. Directed by Tray Ezim for EzimTV. Behind the scenes of 38 Spesh’s video — a monument for Rochester, NY. Shoutout to the city and everybody who came through from Syracuse, Buffalo, Niagara Falls, and all of Upstate. Special love to the local artists who showed up: Hassan Mackey, Coach Parcells, Stiggz Stigalo, Chris Green, Nigus Irap, John Ruger, Melanincamp, Dwayne Collins to name a few and so many others. For context: There were no permits for this gathering. That speaks to the magnitude 38 Spesh has. When the people love you, they show up. Police were present. The scheduled time was 5-7 PM, but people couldn’t get enough of the nostalgia and stayed late. I left at 9 PM. Up to that point, it was nothing but love and great energy. If anybody stepped out of line, they were checked accordingly and told to chill or leave. The behavior was kept in place for hours. The news will run their narrative about “no permit” and “what could go wrong.” I was there. Before I left, it was peace. This was unity. This is EzimTV. We document culture, not headlines.
