He was born at midnight in Mathura to Devaki and Vasudeva to end the tyranny of the evil king Kansa. Vasudeva safely carried baby Krishna to Gokul, where he was raised by Yashoda and Nanda. Lord Krishna later defeated Kansa and spread the message of truth, righteousness, love, devotion, and selfless duty, as taught in the Bhagavad Gita. Janmashtami is celebrated with fasting, midnight prayers, temple decorations, bhajans, Krishna Jhankis, Dahi Handi, and chanting “Hare Krishna” and “Jai Shri Krishna.” 🙏 Message of Janmashtami: May Lord Krishna inspire us to walk the path of truth, kindness, courage, and devotion.
