Hope you enjoyed this vlog :D Here are some lesson learnt from my solo travelling in Shanghai. 1. Download all the apps and authenticate with your number before you arrive! Even if you authenticate Alipay, if you wanna use some other apps inside Alipay (like DiDi or Meituan), you need to authenticate your number for the second time. Fortunately, I had access to my number so could authenticate in China but it would've been very difficult if I didn't. 2. Save all the places and addresses in Chinese Some locals (especially elderly) don't know pingying (Chinese in arphabet), and Amap sometimes doesn't recognise names in English so make sure you save places in Chinese letters. 3. Do A LOT of research on food places (esp. if you are a foodie like me) When you are tired, it's so hard to find a place with an app you are not used to, let alone in a different country. Good reviews on the Chinese apps don't always mean they are really really good (especially if your taste buds is western like me). Make sure you make a list of things you wanna eat and save a few places for each (and ideally save the spots on Amap) so that you can easily get there when you're hungry. 4. Delivery to hotels is very common! Getting food delivery to hotels is normally not accepted in Japan but that's not the case in China. You can get bubble tea, food and even groceries delivered to your room. I should've taken more advantage of that.
