Day Trip to the Enchanting Port Town That Inspired Studio Ghibli : Tomonoura, Hiroshima, Japan【4K】

Tomonoura is a small port town located in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. It has a long history, having been mentioned in an anthology of Japanese poetry dating back over 1,000 years, and flourished as a port where ships could wait until the tide was suitable for sailing. The town's central district still retains Edo-period houses and port facilities in good condition, and has been designated an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings by the national government. From the town, you can also see Sensui Island and Benten Island floating in the calm sea, a view so beautiful that it was praised by Korean envoys who visited during the Edo period. In 1934, the area, along with the town, became the first area designated as part of the Seto Inland Sea National Park. As you can see, Tomonoura is blessed with charming townscapes and nature, and picturesque scenery can be seen everywhere. For this reason, it is often used as a setting for anime and movies. Tomonoura has become widely known, especially since it was used as the model for the setting of Studio Ghibli's "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea."
