Battle of Manila - 37th Infantry Division in Urban Combat at Univ. of Manila; February, 21, 1945

"Stalingrad of the Pacific" – According the shot card, the soldiers in this footage are from the 148th Infantry Regiment, 37th Infantry Division, and this was filmed on February 21, 1945, during the fighting in and around the University of the Philippines in Manila. The original archival info lists the M4 Medium Tanks as part of the 44th Tank Battalion – that is incorrect; they are actually from the 754th Tank Battalion. We can make this identification based on the tactical markings. The 754th used the shapes around the large numbers on their hulls for identification as we see here. See card for more info. NO AI, NO SOUND EFFECTS, NO MUSIC - JUST PURE HISTORY. ALL CONTENT AND TEXT IN THIS VIDEO IS PRESENTED FOR HISTORICAL AND EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY.
