Crash and safety test of the 2021-2023 Toyota Highlander / Kluger The Toyota Highlander (sold as the Kluger in Australia) scored a 5 star ANCAP safety rating. Dual frontal, side head-protecting airbags (first, second & third rows), and side chest-protecting airbags (first row), and a driver knee airbag are standard. A centre airbag to minimise occupant injury in a far-side impact crash is not available. Autonomous emergency braking (Car-to-Car, Vulnerable Road User and Junction Assist) as well as a lane support system with lane keep assist (LKA), lane departure warning (LDW) and emergency lane keeping (ELK), and an advanced speed assistance system (SAS) are standard on all variants.
