STAKEHOLDERS IN KASSENA-NANKANA WEST RECEIVE ORIENTATION ON GOV’T’s Free Primary Health Care Policy.

Chief Executive for the Kassena Nankana West District Assembly, Hon. Stephen Akurugo Aeke has charged stakeholders to pay critical attention to the policy objectives and implementation strategies of the Mahama Administration’s Free Primary Health Care (FPHC) policy so as to have a better grasp of all that it entails for an impactful and smooth implementation. The DCE was addressing an orientation meeting in Paga this Monday, organised by the district’s health dirctorate for stakeholders from various state institutions as part of preparations for the roll of the FPHC policy in the district. Meanwhile, District Nutrition Officer, Mr. John Ayamga in detailed presentation of the policy including its objectives, strategies for implementation and what is expected of each stakeholder-institution disclosed that, district hospitals and teaching hospitals are excluded for rendering services under the policy. He however emphasized that the FPHC policy is not a replacement for the existing National Health Insurance Scheme but rather, a compliment to it. Mr. Ayamga charged stakeholders to assist in continuous enducation of citizens to enroll onto the NHIS and also, do prompt renewals whenever expirations of those cards were approaching. Staff from the Ghana Ambulance Service, the Information Services Department, Community Dev’t & Social Welfare, the Ghana National Fire Service, the NCCE, CHRAJ and the Ghana Education Service, were among the invited stakeholders at the orientation.
