Gig Log: Mo Bamba Starts at 9:30pm

One of the running jokes of the night started almost as soon as open dancing began. A groomsman kept coming up to request Mo Bamba, and every time he asked, I gave him the same answer: “Mo Bamba starts at 9:30.” The problem? It was nowhere near 9:30 yet. As the night went on, the requests kept coming, the anticipation kept building, and somehow the entire dance floor became invested in whether we’d actually make it to the magical Mo Bamba moment. When 9:30 finally rolled around, the crowd was more than ready. This wedding had incredible energy all night, a packed dance floor, and one of the best payoffs to a running joke we’ve had in a long time. The party got so good at one point that the laptop almost got knocked off the DJ stand.
