Nepal Flash Floods: Raging Floodwater Sweeps Away Bridge In Gorkha District | N18G

Floodwaters swept away the Soti Khola bridge in Nepal’s Gorkha district on Sunday, October 11, after powerful currents repeatedly battered the structure. Eyewitness footage shared on social media showed raging waters surging through the Budhi Gandaki River, about 100 kilometres west of Kathmandu, before the bridge buckled under the force and was carried downstream. Nepal’s Ministry of Infrastructure Development stated that the Soti Khola bridge was completely swept away by the flood. Authorities urged villagers to move to safer areas as rising waters inundated the region, swept away several houses and damaged infrastructure. No casualties were reported. The Budhi Gandaki River flows into the Trishuli River system, downstream from an area affected by a catastrophic flood in August triggered by a glacier collapse.
