For decades, this massive timber barn was suffocating under modern corrugated steel, hiding a skeletal core rotting from severe moisture damage. The monumental restoration begins by aggressively stripping the entire structure to audit the failing ancient wood. Prying out hand-forged, centuries-old nails and chainsawing away deep rot sets the stage for a brutal rebuilding effort. Working with tough green oak, heavy-duty chain hoists, and track-guided saws, the craftsmen meticulously shape and hoist massive replacement purlins. Every new timber is securely anchored with structural oak pegs and heavy screws into a freshly poured concrete ring beam, ensuring the complex roof geometry remains perfectly true. Shielded by thousands of interlocking reclaimed clay tiles and a thick mortar ridge cap, the ancient structure and new timber finally operate as one rigid skeleton. If you love historic restorations, traditional woodworking, and heavy timber framing, this video will inspire you. ⏱️ Chapters: 00:00 Demolition & Prep 01:40 Timber Repair 04:20 Frame Assembly 08:36 Ridge & Purlins 13:42 Rafter Fabrication 22:18 Wall Plate & Concrete 25:10 Roof Tiling & Reveal 🎬 Original video by carlrogers:    / @carlroge
