Made my way through the coronavirus-laden streets to Walmart in Niagara Falls, Canada on Friday, March 13, 2020 in order to get some toilet paper (for a paper mache project), hand sanitizer (to clean off a whiteboard) and N95 construction masks (planning to rebuild a rotting deck)... but to my astonishment, these things were sold out!
This Walmart may not seem very busy - in fact, I guarantee that it wasn't as busy as a Walmart in Markham or Scarborough - but for the City of Niagara Falls (population 88,000), it was absolutely jam-packed. I was still able to get what I wanted and without lining up...
When I went, there was still meat and milk, but no eggs. Lots of frozen food. When I went back a couple days later, the meat and milk were all gone and so was a lot of the frozen food. Still no eggs (the cheap kind, anyway). Was COVID-19 to blame for this panic purchasing?
