What happens when you know your heart, but someone else walks away with a completely different understanding of your intentions? In Episode 17 of Better On Purpose, I’m talking about misunderstanding, accountability, boundaries, and the very human desire to keep explaining ourselves until someone finally gets it. A couple of difficult conversations this week challenged some of the growth I thought I had gotten pretty comfortable in. They reminded me that doing the work doesn’t mean we’ll always respond perfectly when our emotions are heightened. Sometimes growth gets tested, old patterns show back up, and we’re left asking ourselves: What actually belongs to me here? There’s a difference between taking accountability for the impact we’ve had and taking responsibility for someone else’s entire perception of us. So how do we honestly examine our behavior, own what’s ours, repair what needs repairing, and eventually release what we cannot control? Because protecting your peace shouldn’t become an excuse to avoid accountability. But accountability shouldn’t require you to abandon yourself either. None of us get it right all the time. We do, however, get to choose again and again how we show up next. #BetterOnPurpose #PersonalGrowth #SelfAwareness #Boundaries #Accountability
