After months of sanding, prepping, priming, and learning as I went, my 1991 Pontiac Firebird is FINALLY painted! 🔥🏁
In this video, I’m showing you the finished black cherry paint job, talking about what went right, what I wish I would’ve done differently, and what I have planned next for the Firebird.
This was my first time painting an entire car myself, right in my home garage. No professional paint booth, no body shop, just a lot of patience, a spray gun, and some trial and error. 😂
I spent roughly 3–4 months getting the body ready, including multiple rounds of 2K primer, guide coat, and block sanding. And let me tell you, the preparation was definitely the hardest part!
Is the paint perfect? Absolutely not.
Am I happy with how it turned out? You bet! 💪🔥
Looking back, there are definitely things I would approach differently on the next paint job. But that’s part of learning, and honestly, I’m glad I took on the challenge.
I’m also talking about what’s next for the Firebird, including finishing touches, possible changes to the hood, and getting this old Pontiac ready to enjoy and hopefully take to some car shows.
I’ve even thought about whether I should keep building this car or eventually move on to another project. 👀
If you’ve ever painted a car yourself, restored an old vehicle, or just love classic American V8s, this one’s for you!
👇 LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS:
Would you keep the Firebird as it is, make more changes, or move on to another project?
And how do you think the black cherry paint turned out?
