Flying Tesla vs a Spider That Crossed an Ocean

Tesla's new Roadster can climb walls, flip in mid-air and, for a few seconds, fly. Spiders do all three with no battery and no fuel, and then do something the car can't even try: cross an ocean, lifted by the planet's own electricity. Five stunts, the car against the spiders. We clock a jumping spider's launch, find out how spider feet stick to glass, watch a silk safety line stop a tumble, follow Darwin's 1832 mystery to a Bristol lab that made spiders fly with no wind at all, and land on Krakatoa, where the first living thing found on the ash was a single tiny spider. Go out early and look low across a lawn or field with the sun behind it. The shine you see is silk. Look at fence posts and grass tips for tiny spiders standing on tiptoe with their abdomen raised.
