This Excel dashboard updates itself. Click one slicer and every number and chart rebuilds around your choice. Paste in new sales and hit Refresh All, and the whole dashboard — KPIs, pivots, charts — recalculates itself. No macros. No paid software. No desktop app. Just the completely free Excel in your browser.
We build it from a messy sales export most people would delete: duplicates, junk rows, inconsistent capitals, and an invisible trailing-space bug that splits products in two (caught live, on camera). This is Part 2 of the Dashboard Build series — Part 1 built the same dashboard in Google Sheets (link below).
WHAT YOU BUILD
• A cleaned, structured Excel Table (the engine of everything)
• Four PivotTables in an "engine room": revenue by month, by product, by region, and order count
• A KPI band powered by GETPIVOTDATA with IFERROR protection
• Two PivotCharts recoloured to a real palette, with data labels
• Month + Region slicers connected to every pivot at once
• The payoff: paste 6 new sales, one Refresh All, watch $54,809 become $56,664

HONEST NOTES (as shown in the video)
• Everything was built in the free Excel for the web, in a free Microsoft account, with the file stored in free OneDrive (5 GB plan). No licence, no trial.
• There are no macros in web Excel, at any price.
• In this free web version, the Insert Timeline button sat on the ribbon but produced nothing for our pivot when clicked during filming. Slicers are the interactive tool that genuinely works here — which is why this dashboard is built on them.
• The data is fictional (Maple & Ember, a coffee-goods shop). The mess is, sadly, realistic.
