250 million years ago, Earth looked completely different. Almost all of the world's major landmasses were joined together as one enormous supercontinent: Pangaea. So how did that giant landmass break apart and become the seven continents we know today? In this documentary, we follow the geological forces that tore Pangaea apart, from continental drift and plate tectonics to seafloor spreading, magnetic stripes, rifting, slab pull, ridge push, and subduction. We'll also explore how the breakup of Pangaea helped create new oceans, new continents, and even the Himalayas. Using evidence from fossils, ancient rocks, climate clues, and the magnetic history of the seafloor, we can reconstruct a world that disappeared hundreds of millions of years ago. And the strangest part? The process never stopped. The continents are still moving today.
