The Church in Unity and Diversity

THE CHURCH IN UNITY AND DIVERSITY 1 Corinthians 1:10–17 Unity does not require us to be identical; it requires us to be intentional about what brings us together! Today, Pastor Nick reminded us that one of the greatest threats to the church is not the diversity among us, but the spirit of division that we sometimes allow to grow because of our differences. We may not all worship the same way, express our faith the same way, or approach ministry with the same methods. But we must learn to look beyond personal preferences and recognize the greater purpose that unites us: Jesus Christ! We serve a God of decency and order, and there is something truly beautiful about a church where different backgrounds, personalities, experiences, and expressions of worship come together in one spirit, with one purpose, serving one Lord. Our differences should never become greater than the God who unites us! The beauty of the church is not found in everyone looking alike, thinking alike, or doing everything alike. It is found in our willingness to love one another, respect one another, and work together for the advancement of God’s Kingdom. Diversity is not the enemy of unity. Division is! May we never become so consumed with how someone serves that we lose sight of Who we are all called to serve.
