Can a failed Xbox Series X|S controller analog stick be repaired instead of replacing the entire controller? In this video, I diagnose and repair a Shock Blue Xbox Wireless Controller with a faulty right analog stick that would register left, right, and down—but no upward input.
I start by testing the controller on a PC to confirm the problem, then completely disassemble it, remove the failed analog stick module, solder in a replacement, reassemble the controller, and run the same test again to see if the repair worked.
This repair involves soldering and desoldering components directly from the controller’s circuit board. Attempting this repair without the proper tools or experience can damage the controller.
