1. Factor leather thickness and Heel Counter into your sole pattern. 2. Find and use the correct heel pitch of your last. 3. Don't forget to grind the inner curve of the heel lift before attaching. 4. If using faux welt, deploy an overlap cut to avoid a gap in between the start and end of the welt. 5. If you are stitching the sole, be sure to catch the sole, welt, insole, lining and upper with your stitches.
