A church has existed at the location of St. Mary's Church of Ireland almost since the foundation of Dungarvan town, Co. Waterford, Ireland. The remains of the old Pre-Reformation Parish Church of St. Mary the Virgin, records of which date back to the 1300s, can still be seen in the grounds of the present church.
