Max and River Brown & the Swell Strings- Back Up and Push for DelVal‪@Swellstrings‬

August 2025, Woodstown, NJ. Max and River were honored to be joined by Bryan McDowell (banjo & guitar) and Dan Klingsberg (bass) for this performance on the main stage of the Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival. Max (age 14) is a student at Juilliard Pre-College, where he studies with Catherine Cho. Through the Perlman Music Program, he additionally studies with Itzhak Perlman. His other primary violin teachers and mentors include Brian Lewis, Timothy Schwarz, and Shelley Beard Santore. He has studied fiddle with Andrew Vogts and Bruce Molsky. River (age 9) is a student in the Temple University Center for Gifted Young Musicians, where she studies with Hirono Oka. She also occasionally travels to Texas to study with Brian Lewis, and she began her violin studies with Shelley Beard Santore. She has learned fiddle from Andrew Vogts, and from her brother, Max.
