📌 ABOUT THIS VIDEO
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Airport employees see a system most senior travelers never get explained. The person pushing your wheelchair usually works for a ground-handling contractor such as Prospect Airport Services, PrimeFlight or G2 Secure Staff, not for Delta, American or United, and the Department of Transportation holds the airline responsible for them anyway. Your assistance request lives on the booking as a code, DOT says airlines are not required to meet you at the kerb, and the airport's own accessibility page will tell you to ring the airline. We cover kerbside check-in and its fee, the TSA travel document checker and the TSA Cares helpline, the carry-on sizer and when gate-checking costs money, the ten-digit licence plate on your bag tag, the federal rule that returns your own wheelchair to the aircraft door, each airline's published gate deadline, and the thirty-minute rule in 14 CFR Part 382 that a $50 million DOT penalty was built on. Airport wheelchair assistance, disability rights and senior travel, explained from the ground crew's side.
