From Water to Wine: The Miracle and the Sign | Following Jesus

From Water to Wine: The Miracle and the Sign | Following Jesus Are you a fan of Jesus, or a true disciple? In this powerful message from our "Following Jesus" series, we examine Jesus’s very first recorded miracle in John 2: turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana. But as we explore the story, we discover that every miracle performed by Christ is more than just a display of supernatural power—it carries a deeper sign pointing directly to His true identity and mission. Key Themes & Takeaways from This Message: Fans vs. Disciples: Why Jesus isn't looking for fickle fans who admire Him from a distance, but devoted disciples who follow Him wholeheartedly. The Social Drama at Cana: Understanding the cultural background of running out of wine, Mary's request, and Jesus's response about His Father’s timing and will. The Symbolic Sign: Why Jesus used stone jars intended for Old Testament purification rituals—showing that human rituals are no longer adequate, and that His blood is the ultimate sacrifice that cleanses us from sin once and for all. Miracles vs. Signs: Recognizing how God moves supernaturally in our lives (through healing, provision, and breakthrough) not just to bless us, but to reveal His glory, align us with His Kingdom, and point others to Him. Trusting in the Waiting: Encouragement for anyone waiting on a miracle to put away shame, stay faithful, and "do whatever He tells you." 📖 Scripture References: John 2:1–11, John 1:29, Isaiah 25:8, Isaiah 55:1–3 If this message blessed your walk with Christ, please like, comment, and subscribe for more messages!
