ASMR Encyclopedia Browse (page turning, soft speaking)

Hello there friends! I was raised in the era of the printed encyclopedia. The encyclopedia was often the “first stop” when trying to research a topic for a paper, check a fact or figure, or simply learn about a new subject for the first time. In those days, you went to where the information was, which usually meant a book somewhere. This is primarily a page-turning video, with soft speaking, in which I browse through a volume of the 1983 Funk & Wagnalls New Encyclopedia, the very set that was in my home as a kid. These days, of course, there are a ton of online research options, but one thing I miss about a hard copy encyclopedia is that the alphabetical organization located completely disconnected articles and topics right next to each other on the pages. For some reason, I always enjoyed that randomness as a kid, and so I revisit that browsing experience here, flipping through the pages and reading article titles along the way. The browsing part starts at 16:50, after looking at a panel from the first edition of the Encyclopedia Brittanica, as well as an advertisement related to the Funk & Wagnalls set. To help as a sleep aid, I’ve included the entire volume browse in this video, which explains its length. But there is one particular picture in the book that really caught my imagination, and if you want to see it before you fall asleep, skip ahead to 1:04:48. Did you ever use encyclopedias when you were younger? Did you ever flip through a volume by the fire just to be bombarded with the randomness? No? Just me, then? Got it. Party animal - CONFIRMED. ;-) Please check out my “The Junk Drawer" playlist periodically for new casual videos of behind-the-scenes stuff or extra content.
