He hails from Pallikunnu in Kannur. His first story was published in 1948. His works have been translated into Indian languages and foreign languages like English, French, German and Russian. His major works include Prakasham Parathunna Oru PPenkutty, Oru Kathakrithu Kurishil, Makhan Singhinte Maranam, Veedu Nashtapetta Kutti, Kalabhariavan, Nalinakanthi, Sakshi, Sayvinte Naya, Gouri and Kadal. T Padmanabhan has won several honours including Ezhuthachan Prize, Vallathol Award, Vayalar Award, Mathrubhumi Literary Award, Lalithambika Antharjanam Award, Muttathu Varkey Award, Padmarajan Award, Chanthu Menon Award, Kakkanadan Award, ONV Award and C V Kunjiraman Award. Writer and social critic, Sreekala Mullassery hails from Malappuram. She works as an assistant professor of Comparative Literature at the University of Calicut.
