In today's video, I am restoring a massive, heavily worn-out Claas combine harvester housing (shield). The bearing seat was completely ruined due to extreme wear and friction. When facing a damaged bearing house like this, a machinist usually has two options: boring and sleeving (bushing) the part, or welding it up and machining it back to the original size. I decided to go with the second option — welding and rebuilding the lost metal. Watch the entire heavy machining process as I face, bore, and precisely turn this giant component on a lathe machine to achieve a perfect press-fit for the new bearing. You will also see how I check the precision and final dimensions using professional measuring tools. 💥 All high-quality tools, micrometers, and lathe inserts used in this project are tagged below in the video timeline. Check them out! Don't forget to like this video, leave a comment about which method you prefer (sleeving vs welding), and subscribe for more satisfying metalworking, lathe, and milling machine projects! #machining #class #restoration #metalworking #lathe #milling #repair #machine #diy #mechanical
