Other Notes: Well, that’s it. Today was the final full test of Beaver Valley’s system of 2001’s and Equinoxes. Starting in January of 2027, the remaining sirens still active in the system will be fully decommissioned and removed, except for a few, as some fire departments that have some of the sirens are keeping them and converting them to fire sirens and possibly for other uses in their towns, but will no longer be used for emergencies in the plant. The entire system in the 10 mile radius will be replaced by wireless emergency alerts, with EAS being a backup method. I strongly oppose this move for obvious reasons. Do I even need to say it again? Otherwise, I decided to stay in my home state for this test. Chester’s Equinox was my ultimate decision as it was in a nice small town, and you have plenty of space to choose a filming spot. At 10:45, I did get an alert on my phone for the upcoming siren activation, so that was good. Surely enough, right at 11, this thing sounds in full volume at least one more time in its life. It was a fun test, but still not happy the whole system is being taken down. There is an extra FC on this siren, so it could be a fire siren as well, but I’m not 100% sure. Only time will tell I guess.
