Evaluating Techniques Used in Argumentation Being able to evaluate how an argument is built is one of the most powerful skills in reading, writing, and everyday life. In this lesson, we break down the common techniques writers and speakers use to persuade audiences—and how to tell which approaches are fair, logical, or intentionally misleading. You’ll learn to identify the three key rhetorical appeals: ethos, pathos, and logos; distinguish between deductive and inductive reasoning; and spot widespread logical fallacies including straw man, ad hominem, false dilemma, and hasty generalization. We’ll also cover how to assess evidence for relevance, sufficiency, accuracy, and bias, plus how tone and word choice shape persuasion, all while giving you a clear checklist you can use to analyze any argumentative text. This lesson is designed for Grade 9–12 English and Language Arts students, college prep and debate learners, and anyone who wants to read, watch, and engage with media with a sharper, more critical eye. You can access supporting materials including the rubric and answer key, practice worksheet, and slide deck through the links below—feel free to share which technique you find hardest to spot in the comments, and subscribe for more reading, writing, and critical thinking lessons released every week! #youtube #youtubecreators #deped #youtubeshorts #EvaluatingTechniques #argumentation #english9 #grade9english #ArgumentativeText #persuasion #criticalthinking #englishlesson #englishteacher #grade9english #students #teachers #education #learning #depedtv #philippines #studywithme #academicskills #communicationskills
