Meta Just Made Smart Glasses Without a Camera — Was the Camera the Problem?

Meta just introduced Ray-Ban Meta Audio — its first audio-only AI glasses built without a camera. And as someone who wears prescription Ray-Ban Meta glasses every day, that immediately made me wonder: was the camera the part making smart glasses feel creepy in the first place? In this video, I look at what changes when Meta removes the camera but keeps AI and audio functionality, why camera-equipped glasses create a different privacy problem, and whether camera-free smart glasses could appeal to people who want wearable AI without making everyone around them wonder, “Are you recording me?” I also compare that idea with my own experience wearing prescription Meta glasses, recording in public, dealing with the capture light, and why I personally still value having the camera.
