Review: Six Vivid, Vibrant Schulhoff CDs on Capriccio

Erwin Schulhoff was perhaps the most talented and prolific of the group of Czech composers whose music was ruthlessly suppressed by the Nazis. He died in an internment camp in 1942, but not before writing an impressive collection of works, a hefty selection of which can be found in this excellent, affordable boxed set from Capriccio. Check out the musical examples in the video to hear a truly distinctive early 20th-century musical voice. Musical Examples courtesy of Capriccio Records
