Domain 1 is 12% of the exam. Domain 4 is 28%. So this course is weighted the way the exam is weighted, not the way the syllabus is numbered. Every scenario names the word that decides the answer and explains why each wrong option is wrong - because on this exam the four options are rarely all plausible, but two of them usually are, and the difference is one qualifier. The performance-based questions are taught as their own thing, not mentioned in passing. They come first in the exam, they take the longest, and they are where candidates lose the time they need at the end. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ THE EXAM, AS COMPTIA PUBLISHES IT Maximum 90 questions: multiple choice and performance-based. 90 minutes. Scaled score 100-900. The minimum passing score is 750. Current version: V7, exam code SY0-701, launched 7 November 2023. CompTIA recommends Network+ and two years of experience in a security or systems administrator role. That is a recommendation, not a requirement - nobody checks it at the test centre. DOMAIN WEIGHTS 1 - General Security Concepts: 12% 2 - Threats, Vulnerabilities and Mitigations: 22% 3 - Security Architecture: 18% 4 - Security Operations: 28% 5 - Security Program Management and Oversight: 20% Domain 4 alone is more than twice Domain 1. Domains 4 and 5 together are 48% - nearly half the exam - and they are the two that most courses reach last, with the least time left. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ HOW LONG YOU HAVE SY0-701 retires on 11 June 2027 for the English exam, and 13 August 2027 for Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish and Thai. That is not urgent yet, but it is the reason to check the exam code on anything you study from. Material written for SY0-601 is still everywhere and still ranks. You can flag them and come back - and you should, because they are worth the same as everything else and they will eat twenty minutes if you let them. Answer the multiple choice first, then return with whatever time is left. Partial credit exists on some PBQs. Pause at each scenario and commit to an answer before the explanation. 3. Review every wrong answer until you can say why each option is right or wrong - not just which one was correct. 4.
