Welcome to Dad on Deck Launched the '77 Boston Whaler Montauk 17 out of Mission Bay for a day of trolling off La Jolla, but almost immediately realized I left all my extra tackle behind! We pushed on anyway to see what was biting, running into dolphins, sea lions, and one quick nibble—but the real twist came at the end of the day when I realized my wallet was missing from my pocket. Even when nothing goes to plan, a bad day on the water beats a good day on land.
