🎵 OUT OF THIS PLACE
“What if the prison was never these walls? What if the chains were the lies I believed all along?”
Out of This Place is about the invisible places in our minds where fear, comparison, self-doubt, pressure, and lies can keep us trapped.
We search for identity and purpose in accomplishments, money, relationships, and people’s opinions—sometimes forgetting to ask the One who created us.
This song is a journey from confusion to truth, fear to faith, and searching to surrender.
I spent years asking:
“God, show me who I am.”
Our identity isn’t found in what the world calls us. Our worth isn’t determined by our failures or accomplishments. Sometimes getting “out of this place” begins when God’s truth replaces the lies we’ve believed.
If you’re fighting battles in your mind, I pray this song reminds you that fear, shame, comparison, and your past do not get the final word.

LYRICS
[Intro]
I’ve been trying to get out…
But maybe I’ve been looking for the wrong exit.
Maybe this place was never around me.
Maybe…it was in me.
[Verse 1]
I’ve been trapped inside a room without walls,
Same thoughts running circles, I can hear when they call.
You’re not enough.
You’ll never become
Everything you thought you’d be when you were young.
So I chase another goal just to quiet that voice,
But every time I get there, I don’t feel like I won.
Looking in the mirror like, “Who have I become?”
Got everything moving—
Still don’t know where I’m going.
People see the smile, they don’t see what’s underneath,
All the questions, all the pressure, all the things I believe.
Comparing my life to everybody I see,
Then wondering why everybody looks happier than me.
I keep searching for truth in a world full of noise,
Everybody’s got an answer, everybody’s got a voice.
But the louder it gets, the less that I know.
God…which way do I go?
[Pre-Chorus]
I’ve been running in circles,
Trying to find my way.
Looking everywhere for answers,
But they always seem to change.
If there’s something more than this,
God, show me the way.
‘Cause I’m tired of living in this place.
[Chorus]
I wanna get out of this place,
Out of the fear, out of the weight.
Out of the lies I’ve been calling my name,
Out of the person I thought I had to fake.
God, if Your truth is the way,
Break every chain that I made.
I don’t wanna keep running away.
Lead me out…
Out of this place.
[Verse 2]
I thought worth had a number,
Thought success had a price.
Thought if everybody loved me,
Then I’d finally love my life.
So I worked for the title,
I worked for applause,
Built an image for people
and forgot who I was.
Funny how you can have everything that you prayed for,
Then sit alone wondering what you were made for.
That’s when I heard You.
Not thunder. Not flames.
Just truth cutting through everything in my brain.
“You were Mine before the world knew your name.
Before the wins.
Before the loss.
Before the money and fame.”
And suddenly the things I was chasing looked small.
Maybe strength isn’t pretending you never feel pain.
Maybe freedom starts when you stop believing the shame.
Maybe I don’t need the whole road explained.
Maybe all I need is the One who made the way.
[Bridge]
What if the prison was never these walls?
What if the chains were the lies I believed all along?
That I’m not enough.
That I’m too far gone.
That my failures define me.
That I have to be strong.
That my worth comes from people.
That my past is my name.
That God only loves me
when I’m worthy of grace.
But that’s not truth.
You say I’m chosen.
You say I’m known.
You say there’s purpose
in places I don’t understand.
You say I’m Yours.
And maybe…
that’s enough.
[Final Verse]
So I’m cleaning out the rooms
I’ve been living in mentally,
Every lie that told me
who I’m never gonna be.
Fear gotta go.
Shame gotta leave.
I can’t follow God
and still worship what people think.
I don’t know every step.
I don’t know every plan.
But purpose ain’t me
having everything in my hands.
It’s trusting the One
who already knows where I stand.
I spent years asking,
“God, show me who I am.”
Then You showed me who You are.
And I understood.
[Final Chorus]
I’m getting out of this place,
Out of the fear, out of the weight.
I’m leaving the lies
that I carried for days,
I’m done letting darkness
keep calling my name.
God, Your truth is the way,
Your love has broken these chains.
I don’t have to keep running away.
You’re leading me out…
Out of this place.
[Outro]
I know who I am
because I know who You are.
I was searching the world
for something only You could give.
Maybe this place was never around me.
Maybe it was everything
I believed about myself…
before I believed You.
You led me out.
