The flood that hit Sedona on Sunday morning is now rolling down the Verde River. At Clarkdale the river went from about 82 cubic feet per second on Saturday night to 28,400 by Sunday noon and rose more than 16 feet, passing flood stage near Cottonwood. Oak Creek at Cornville reached the highest level ever measured there, the Camp Verde Marshal's Office ordered people along the Verde River, West Clear Creek and Wet Beaver Creek to evacuate immediately, and the Yavapai County Sheriff told Lake Montezuma and Rimrock residents to shelter in place or seek higher ground. Forecasters expect the river at Camp Verde to reach major flood stage around 6 p.m., about two feet above the March 2023 flood, while Bartlett Dam releases have climbed almost eight times since Saturday. Figures as of early Sunday afternoon, November 1, 2026 (USGS data are provisional).
