DBD's Charity Event Has a HUGE Problem

Dead by Daylight’s latest charity event has sparked a surprising amount of controversy, and in this video I’m reacting to a post from r/deadbydaylight titled “I actually can't believe they designed a charity event like this.” The post questions the design of the event, particularly the fact that the Survivor-side objective involves Shane completing generators while there is seemingly nothing for Killer players to contribute toward the charity goal. Even more controversially, normal Killer gameplay can actively prevent that progress by doing exactly what Killers are supposed to do: stop generators from being completed and eliminate Survivors. I discuss why this charity event has become such a contentious topic in the Dead by Daylight community, including the decision to exclude Killer players from directly participating, the way the event's mechanics can put Killers in opposition to additional donations, and the reaction from some Survivors who have accused Killers of being racist for playing normally instead of allowing Shane to complete generators. The bigger question is whether it makes sense to create a charity event where one side of the game can directly contribute to the goal while the other side can unintentionally prevent that contribution simply by playing Dead by Daylight normally.
