Windhorse Orchard: a Living Building Challenge and Passive House Renovation.

This project in Sebastopol is nearing completion and Kristin Nichols (Building Designer/Homeowner) and Spencer Dobrovolny (Builder) are excited to share some of the highlights with you. They will present the project from their unique perspectives. "We will dive into the design and construction processes of this exciting project. We will look at what challenges we faced, how we approached these challenges, and share our successes and where we think we can improve. Join us for a glimpse into the how of building a passive building using non-toxic, low carbon footprint and circular materials. The house was designed to Passive House standards and to meet the Living Building Challenge." Kristin Nichols: Designer in the field of houses, work spaces and hospitality, with focus on high performance building design, using healthy, circular and carbon sequestering materials.​ Spencer Dobrovolny : General Contractor based in Marin County focused on high performance building installations for the residential market. Introduced to Passive house principals in 2008 Fairview projects in Urbana as a volunteer builder for Eco-lab.​
