"Cut It" | Essie and The Hum | Live at Special Features

"Cut It" | Essie and The Hum | Live at Special Features Show was recorded and performed on January 17th, 2026 at Special Features, Portland, OR. Videography by: Jake William Capistran and Dakota Callicott All original songs by Essie Humberston, with composition from The Hum. Guitarist: Paul Danowski, Bassist: Jaxx Ward, Drummer: Steven Douglas. Who are we? Emerging from the hush of the Pacific Northwest, meet Essie and The Hum. At the center of the four-piece, Essie’s storytelling and chants bring you into an ethereal, shoegazey dreamscape. Inspired by the raw storytelling of Big Thief, the honesty of Julia Jacklin, and the atmospheric rock of Mazzy Star, the band blends laid-back rock with shimmering indie folk. Every song is written by Essie, whose guitar and vocals are elevated by the fluid rhythm section of Jaxx Ward (bass) and Steven Douglas (drums), with Paul Danowski on lead guitar and background vocals. Together, they create a sound that stretches from slow-burn ballads to funky punk rock. Follow us on Instagram and TikTok! @essieandthehum Music streaming on all platforms now :)
