ಆಚಾರವಿಲ್ಲದ ನಾಲಿಗೆ, ನಿನ್ನ ನೀಚ ಬುದ್ಧಿಯ ಬಿಡು ನಾಲಿಗೆ… "O undisciplined tongue, give up your mean habits."
Around 500 years ago, the saint-poet Purandara Dasa (c. 1484–1564), the father of Carnatic music, sang to his own tongue: stop finding fault, stop carrying tales, speak the name of God instead. Today we'd call it a song about trolling.
This is a folk-fusion reimagining. Purandara Dasa's original keertane is sung unchanged, and two new modern verses about phones, comments and pausing before you type are woven between his charanas.

Meaning
• Pallavi: O undisciplined tongue, give up your mean habits.
• Anupallavi: Without a thought, you're always stretched out, ready to find fault with others.
• Charana 1: Rising at dawn, can't you say "Lord of Lakshmi"? Keep speaking the name of the Lord who lifts the fallen.
• Charana 2: Don't carry tales, tongue, I beg you. Keep singing the name of Sri Rama.
• Charana 3: Remember Hari, worship Narahari. Think always of the lotus feet of gracious Purandara Vitthala.
• Today's verse: One word wounds, one word heals. Which one will you choose today? Think before you type, keep it real.
