Testing rear tire clearance on the Zen AR-45 / Schlick Growler cycle truck build. I've got a State Bicycle cargo fork up front with a 2.4" Schwalbe tire, and I wanted to see if I could match that comfort in the rear with a Schwalbe Moto X 27.5 x 2.4 (Super Moto X). Short answer: it almost works, but not quite. After switching the rear freehub body from Hyperglide to SRAM XD, the tire now scrapes the chainstay yoke by what looks like less than a millimeter. Might be dish, might be the yoke design for larger chainrings - either way, it's too close for comfort. Good news: I've got a Schwalbe Big Ben Plus 27.5 x 2.0 ready to go, which should slot in with plenty of room. This might end up as a standalone sidebar or folded into the full cycle truck build video. Either way, figured it was worth documenting for anyone else trying to max out tire clearance on this frame. Frame: Zen AR-45 / Schlick Growler Fork: State Bicycle Co. Cargo Fork Tire Tested: Schwalbe Moto X 27.5 x 2.4 Backup Tire: Schwalbe Big Ben Plus 27.5 x 2.0 Drivetrain: SRAM XD Full build video coming soon.
