Café de Nuit — a 1-hour Persian jazz fusion session inspired by Van Gogh’s Le Café de nuit; gaslight, red walls, sleepless hours, and the strange tenderness of places that stay open for the lost and restless. “Café de Nuit.” In August 1888, Vincent van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo that he was about to paint the interior of the café where he was staying — a place lit by gas at night, one of the cafés de nuit that remained open until morning. He described them as refuges for “night prowlers”: people with nowhere to sleep, or too drunk to be taken in elsewhere. In another letter, with a touch of humor, he said the café owner had taken so much of his money that it was time to take revenge by painting the place. In the first days of September, Van Gogh stayed up for three consecutive nights to finish the painting, sleeping during the day. What emerged was not just an interior, but a psychological space: red walls, yellow lamps, a green billiard table, and the uneasy stillness of a room that has seen too much of the night. This session was made in the spirit of that room: for the sleepless, the watchful, the solitary, and those who know the peculiar intimacy of late-night cafés. 🖼️ Artwork: Le Café de nuit (1888) Vincent van Gogh ────────────────────────────── 🎧 TRACKLIST 00:00 Three Nights Awake 03:06 Painted for Revenge 06:25 Gaslight Over Empty Tables 09:34 The Café That Never Slept 12:45 Night Prowlers’ Refuge 15:50 After Midnight in Arles 18:45 The Green Table Waits 21:38 Under the Yellow Lamps 24:11 Bottles After Closing 27:00 A Room for the Restless 30:35 Red Walls, No Mercy 33:20 The Hour with No Morning 36:55 Sleepless at the Billiard Table 40:35 Smoke, Wine, and Silence 43:15 The Clock Keeps Going 45:30 Those Who Had Nowhere Else 48:55 Three Consecutive Nights 51:12 The Last Customers Remaining 55:10 A Café de Nuit 57:53 When the Lamps Burn Hardest 1:01:08 Dawn Never Quite Arrives ────────────────────────────── کافه‌ی شبانه در اوت ۱۸۸۸، ون‌گوگ در نامه‌ای به برادرش تئو نوشت که می‌خواهد فضای داخلی کافه‌ای را که شب‌ها در آن اقامت دارد نقاشی کند؛ کافه‌ای با نور چراغ گاز، از همان «کافه‌های شب» که تا صبح باز می‌ماندند و پناهِ شب‌گردها و بی‌خانمان‌ها بودند. ────────────────────────────── 🕯️ PERFECT FOR ✦ Late-night listening and sleepless hours ✦ Reading, writing, and solitary work ✦ Lovers of noir cafés, dim light, and painterly atmosphere ✦ Listeners drawn to Persian jazz with a darker, more intimate mood ────────────────────────────── 📻 ABOUT FARSI JAZZ Farsi Jazz builds a living archive of Persian sound; restoring melodies, reimagining lost places and times, and carrying Iranian musical memory into long-form jazz sessions.
