I spent 5 days hiking across Santa Maria Island in the Azores, following the GR1 Santa Maria trail and staying in some of the most beautiful hiking shelters along the way! In this vlog, I'm taking you along on my solo hiking adventure across Santa Maria, the southernmost island of the Azores, Portugal. From dramatic coastal cliffs and green valleys to tiny villages, incredible ocean views, and peaceful nights surrounded by nature, this multi-day hike was such a special experience. Over 5 days, I explored the island on foot, staying in the unique hiking shelters run by Ilha a Pé. With comfortable beds, warm showers, fully equipped kitchens, and delicious meals waiting at the end of each hiking day, this was a very different experience from my previous multi-day hikes!
