PEARL JAM - EVEN FLOW (Drum Cover)

NEW COVER/LESSON EVERY WEEK! Cover #78. Even Flow is definitely one of my favorite Pearl Jam tunes. I found a drumless version of this track, and as I'm still having lots of areas to explore with these cymbals, I thought this tune would be a great way to try out especially the ride a bit more. I LOVE the sound, however I noticed I've got some work to do when it comes to being consistent with the way I hit as well as dynamics. The bell is definitely not aggressive, but I like it! Now you guys can really hear what the cymbals sounds like, without any original drums underneath. Playing to drumless versions of older songs is another fun challenge. They're rarely recorded to click tracks and they are breathing in time a little bit, which is wonderful but to me makes it a bit trickier to post-record drums. You really have to feel the music and be in the moment without click nor any clear rhythmic instruments to follow. Great fun though! The drums follows what was originally played for the most part, with some parts being a bit inspired by live performances. I wanted the feel and sound to be more live than studio'y, hence also slightly more bits of minor improvisation. Alright guys, thanks for watching!
