During his exploration, he encounters Native American princess Olive Oyl, who is bathing under a waterfall. Their meeting sparks a romantic connection, much to the chagrin of Chief Shmohawk, who desires Olive for himself. The chief's attempts to eliminate Popeye lead to a series of comedic and action-packed events, culminating in Popeye relying on his trusty spinach to overcome adversity and win Olive's affection.
