Frank Miller, Cellist (1912-1986) in a 1981 interview with Aaron Parsons

Cellist Frank Miller was a towering cellist, many remember as a legendary player in his day. He played under Stokowski as a teen in the Philadelphia Orchestra before joining the Minnesota Orchestra as principal under Mitropoulus. From there he was awarded the principal cello position in the NBC Orchestra under Toscanini. He remained there until they disbanded 15 years later. Miller concluded his illustrious career with a remarkable 26-year tenure as principal cellist of the Chicago Symphony, performing under both Fritz Reiner and Sir Georg Solti.
