In this Cities Skylines 2 Challenge, we test how livable a neighbourhood could be within the footprint of a highway interchange. With a similar idea to the One Tile Challenge, we have to try and make a livable city including recreation, essential services, public transit all in the space of our starting interchange with dimensions of 301050 Square Meters (74.4 acres).
In this video I manage to fit 500 people in a cosy low-density town, 2000 people in a booming medium-density old town, and 5000 people in a bustling high-density downtown.
In a real urban planning view, the video shows the amount of land space that is wasted due to American urban planning and massive highway interchanges that could be used for entire thriving, interconnected communities.
Here are the rules and exceptions of the build if you want to follow along.
Rules/Exceptions:
• You have to build ONLY within the same footprint of the Interchange.
• Every version must be livable. (Each version must include shops, housing, jobs, recreation and access to essential services)
• No infrastructure outside the boundary, except for water, electricity and road connections.
• You cannot rely entirely on a outside city for services. (such as deathcare)
