Jehovah's Witnesses Just Changed the Blood Rule They Kept for 80 Years

Nine million people, and almost everyone knows them for two things: the knock at the door, and the card that refuses a blood transfusion. On 18 September 2026 the second one changed: red cells, white cells, platelets and plasma are now a matter of personal conscience. The rule had stood since 1945. Most of what the world knows about Jehovah's Witnesses was settled in a courtroom: the US Supreme Court reversed itself for them in 1943, Nazi courts executed at least 273 of them, and Norway cleared them this April.
