Ancient superpowers like Rome and Han China eventually collapsed under the immense financial strain of maintaining massive militaries and bureaucratic structures. This internal decay was severely accelerated by nomadic incursions from the Eurasian steppes, utilizing military innovations like the stirrup, alongside massive population migrations. While Western Rome dissolved completely in 476 AD and permanently fractured, the Chinese civilization repeatedly regenerated its political unity despite facing similar invasions and civil wars. These historical events demonstrate that even the most seemingly invincible empires remain fragile against internal injustice and external transformation. Ultimately, these systemic crises completely rewrite collective memory and force human societies back into fundamental struggles for survival.
