How should leaders use AI in business without losing the human capabilities that matter most? AI can improve efficiency, accelerate analysis, support decision-making, and help people work more effectively. But the real opportunity is not replacing people. It is helping people do better work.
In this video, I talk about the role of AI in business, leadership, strategy, and organizational effectiveness, and why people still need to remain at the center.
AI can help organizations:
analyze data faster
identify patterns and connections
support research and decision-making
take notes and reduce administrative work
create efficiencies
improve productivity
free leaders to be more present in conversations
But there are also things leaders should be careful not to outsource.
Curiosity. Judgment. Relationships. Customer understanding. Context. Leadership responsibility.
AI can help us move faster, but speed is not the same as understanding.
AI can summarize what a customer said, but a human may still need to hear the hesitation in their voice.
AI can identify a pattern, but a leader still has to determine whether that pattern matters.
AI can support strategy, but people still have to lead it.
I recently met someone responsible for AI strategy in a school district, and the conversation reminded me how wide the reactions to AI really are.
Some people are afraid of it. Some want to avoid it. Others want AI to do nearly everything for them.
I think the real opportunity is somewhere in the middle.
We can stay curious about technology and continue advancing how we work while still protecting the human capabilities that make organizations strong.
Because people are our customers.
People implement our strategies.
People operate our processes.
People build relationships.
People create trust.
So maybe the question is not:
How much can AI do for us?
Maybe the better question is:
How can AI help our people do what matters better?
The strongest organizations will learn how to combine human judgment, curiosity, relationships, and leadership with the speed and capability of AI.
Use the technology.
Enhance the capability.
Protect the curiosity.
And keep people at the center.
