Matheus Correia, universally celebrated by his stage name Comedian Selvy, was an iconic powerhouse of the Goan Konkani theatre world (tiatr).
Hailed as the "Comedy King of the Konkani stage," he possessed an innate ability to evoke explosive laughter through his impeccable timing, expressive body language, and quick-witted dialogue delivery. For over two decades, his presence on stage guaranteed a brief escape from life's troubles for audiences spanning from Goa to global diaspora hubs like London, Paris, and the Middle East.
Born on February 14, 1974, in Velim, Goa, Selvy initially began acting in village khell tiatrs during his childhood. His career fundamentally transformed in 1998 when legendary director John D'Silva cast him in the hit tiatr Vatt. This milestone launched a prolific journey in which he performed in more than 60 tiatrs and collaborated with almost every top-tier director in the industry, including Comedian Agostinho, Roseferns, and Mario Menezes. Beyond acting for others, he established himself as an accomplished playwright, director, and producer. His own critically acclaimed productions—such as Raza Jeita, Kombo Choita, Second Hand, and 8 Dis—became massive crowd-pleasers. His artistry also extended to recorded media and cinema, including standout roles in the Konkani feature films
