The new elevated metro corridor officially opened for passenger services on October 11, 2026. I’m sharing my travel experience, station views, the new metro infrastructure and the highlights of this exciting addition to Chennai’s public transport network. 📍 ROUTE COVERED Poonamallee Bypass → Poonamallee Bus Stand → Poonamallee Government Hospital → Karayanchavadi → Kumananchavadi → Kattupakkam → Iyyappanthangal → Thelliyaragaram → Porur Bypass → Porur Junction → Vadapalani 🚉 YELLOW LINE – IMPORTANT DETAILS 🟡 Line: Chennai Metro Phase 2 – Corridor 4 📏 Route length: Approximately 14.6 km 🚉 Stations: 11 elevated stations 📅 Inaugural run: October 11, 2026 ⏰ Regular operating hours: 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM 🔁 Train frequency: Approximately every 10 minutes during weekday peak hours and every 15 minutes during non-peak hours and on Sundays/public holidays. 💰 CHENNAI METRO YELLOW LINE FARE DETAILS • Poonamallee Bypass to Vadapalani: Approximately ₹40 for a single journey. • Other journeys have different fares depending on the stations travelled. • Existing Chennai Metro fare discounts may apply to eligible ticketing options.
